67% of the world’s population has an unmet surgical need with an estimated 17 million people dying each year from conditions which require surgical care. Mortality and morbidity from routine surgery continues to grow in the poorest communities where often basic equipment is available, but the underlying governance and working practices are not in place to allow for continued, safe healthcare delivery.

By embedding UK doctors within the heart of these communities we nurture sustainable departmental partnerships, develop local governance structures and create regular teaching and training programmes for local clinicians working in acute hospitals. Our clinicians work closely with heads of department, leading projects to address specific unmet peri-operative needs; spanning pre-assessment, intra-operative and post-operative care. These bespoke projects are deliverable, sustainable and auditable.
