The OCEAN-Nepal Clinical Partnership Programme 2027
Bespoke Global Health Placements for doctors working in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, and Emergency Medicine
Now Recruiting OCEAN Doctors for Nepal 2027
OCEAN is proud to launch recruitment for its first cohort of Global Health Fellows for our Clinical Partnership Programme in Nepal.
We are seeking motivated, forward-thinking clinicians to join OCEAN in Nepal, working within teaching hospitals in Pokhara and Dharan. This pioneering Global Health Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with meaningful Quality Improvement (QI) work in anaesthesia, intensive care, or emergency medicine.
Selected Fellows will undertake a 3–6 month voluntary placement, embedded within a specialty department. Working collaboratively with local clinical teams, Fellows will co-design and work towards delivering a sustainable quality improvement project while contributing to day-to-day clinical practice.
The OCEAN Clinical Partnership Programme has been carefully developed to strengthen working practices, governance structures, and quality improvement systems in low- and middle-income settings. Fellows will support host departments to identify priorities, implement change, and build sustainable improvements while continuing to develop as clinicians and global health leaders.
The Clinical Partnership Programme is more than a placement; it is an opportunity to contribute to lasting improvements in healthcare delivery through collaborative learning, systems strengthening and capacity building.
About the Clinical Partnership Programme
Make a big impact by working in a rural teaching hospital by working alongside enthusiastic emergency doctors and anaesthetists to help delivery of their services whilst identifying areas of unmet need.
OCEAN’s global health fellows will work for 3 days a week in either anaesthetics + intensive care or the emergency department and spend one day per week working alongside departmental leads to deliver a bespoke quality improvement project.
Projects will be bilaterally designed and bespoke for each department. They are designed to be simple, cost effective and scalable.
OCEAN’s fellows will be supported both on site by local departmental leads and remotely by our team of specialist advisors. All fellows will be appointed a clinical supervisor and projects will be site managed by the OCEAN lead in their host department.
All project work undertaken as part of OCEAN will be mounted on our website for global health teams internationally to peer review.
The programme length and start times will be bespoke for selected candidates with anticipated placements commencing in Q1/2 of 2027.
